Why Zawiszy Square?

Zawiszy Square is located at the very border of Wola and Ochota districts. This place resonates with vibrant life of its users, but on the other hand, huge disproportions in a share of the space cause it to lack representativeness that it deserves. The stakes are really high, since the value of this place is tremendous and there are many players at the table who would like to develope it to their gains. Because of that, there is no formula guiding the existing and planned development, which is the reason for unclear, tenuous patterns to emerge. We wanted to turn things around.

How are we going to do it?

For this space to flourish and reveal its full potential, not only the re-design is crucial but also the mindset shift in the process of planning. What this place needs is a big structural change, where the needs of a potential user are of the highest priority. That is why our user-objective process started with profiling and setting channels of communication. Then based on that, we analysed the area in terms of factors, which influence it the most, with respect to characteristics of the citizens. Also the SWOT analysis brings to the table many aspects connected with wellness of different social groups. This is the base for our design.

What are we planning?

Conscious urban re-design. We envisioned New Zawiszy Square to be a friendly place, gathering different citizens of Warsaw, and at the same time to accomodate the huge portion of various kinds of Warsaw transit. Check out our design in the Project section.
